Once hailed as a symbol of China-Africa friendship, the 1,860-kilometer railway linking the Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia is set for a comprehensive upgrade under a proposed 30-year concession agreement with China Civil Engineering Construction. 1 The Beijing Summit and Ninth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was held in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2024. Africa has made remarkable strides across many development metrics, significantly improving life expectancy, literacy, health, and education. With its population set to double to around 2 billion by 2050, Africa's economic trajectory will increasingly shape global dynamics.
