This list was initially developed as part of AfTerFibre, a project to map terrestrial fibre optic cable projects in Africa. The project was sponsored byand, on completion, will be hosted by the UbuntuNet Alliance. All information gathered by the project will be publicly available under an open license. As part of the project, Mali will deploy 817km of fibre optic networks, including 420km of Mopti-Gao path, 199km of Mopti- koro-bi path (bordering burkina faso), 198km of Gao-Labazenga path (bordering Niger) and 100km of fibre to the home (FTTH) network. The Malian government seeks to strengthen the national telecom infrastructure as part of its digital transformation ambitions.
