How to check the input power of an optical module
While optical power meters are the primary power measurement instrument, optical loss test sets (OLTSs) and optical time domain reflectometers (OTDRs) also measure power in testing loss. To test transmitted power in sfp optical modules, you use an optical power meter to get exact results. This measurement is the basis for loss measurements as well as the power from a source or presented at a receiver. To use a power meter for fiber optic testing, always clean connectors first with lint-free wipes or click-to-clean tools.
